Assistant Professor 1
Assistant Professor Daniel Karlo G. Lucas is a graduate of BS HRIM, and he joined the University in the second semester of AY 2019-2020 as Instructor I. He was promoted to Assistant Professor 1 in September 2020 after being conferred with the degree of Master of Business Administration from the University of Caloocan City.
Since January 2020, he has been assigned to teach various HRIM and services courses. To date, he has been able to handle five different HRIM courses: such as HRIM 130: Cost Control and Analysis, HRIM 106: Computers in HRIM, HRIM 105: Beverage Management 1, HRIM 109: Purchasing Management, HRIM 112: Business Management in Hotels, Restaurants and Related Institutions. Also, he was assigned to teach two CHE service courses: CWTS1 and CWTS 2.
On matters related to research, he presented at the Online-Live and On-Demand 6th World Research Summit for Hospitality and Tourism, last 14-15 December 2021. His study was entitled "Sustainability of Selected Bar and Entertainment Establishments in the Implementation of the New Excise Tax on Liquor." He likewise participated and presented in the Philippine Research Conference on Tourism and Hospitality research workshop last 28-29 October 2022.
His research interest focuses on Philippine wines and distilled spirits, specifically on elevating their status to global market standards. Currently, he is collaborating with a University Researcher from the Asian Institute of Tourism to work on a policy framework for setting guidelines for regulating lambanog production in the Philippines.
Moreover, he is one of the proponents of the study titled: “Can technology bring a positive Service Quality in Fast Food restaurants? A case study of a leading fast food chains’ service quality. ” The paper was accepted as a stand-up presentation at the APacCHRIE (Asia-Pacific Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education) 2023 Conference on May 25-27, 2023.
In a short time, he was able to serve the Department and College, aside from the service courses, CWTS1 and CWTS2. In 2020, he served as the technical director of the Philippine Research Conference for Tourism and Hospitality (PRCTH). Since then, he has always been part of the organizing committee of PRCTH.
Assistant Professor Lucas is currently part of the College Executive Board (CEB) as the Chief Information Officer (CIO). He led in continuing the development and launch of the College website. It formally launched last year during the HE Centennial Conference. Presently, he is the sole administrator of the College website and the College's Facebook Page. On top of these responsibilities as CIO, he is the College Privacy focal person.
