Entrepreneur and connoisseur of Thai Food. “Al P” is currently President and CEO of a chain of popular Thai Restaurants – ‘Jatujak’,‘Tamarind’, and “Easy Tiger”. He began with “Jatujak”(“Chatuchak”), named after the largest week-end market in Bangkok Thailand. The restaurant pays homage to the affordable but delicious “street food” of Thailand. To cater to the more affluent and discriminating market, “Tamarind” was born, offering Thai Cuisine originating from various parts of Thailand. The latest of this chain of Thai restaurants is “Easy Tiger” – with the hip and young urban professionals in mind.What sets Al apart from other restauranteurs is his genuine passion for Thai Food. He is not only involved in the day-to-day operations, but also the driving force behind product development and marketing.
His initiation to Thai Cuisine started when he was hired to work for “Taste of Thailand” (1987 - 1990). With enough industry experience, he was tapped by his former professors to teach in his Alma Mater (1991-1993). He eventually returned to the industry and worked for Hotel Shangri-La Makati (1993-1998). It is to no surprise that he ended up becoming the manager of “Salathip” – the Thai Restaurant of Shang
His entrepreneurial spirit began in 2001 when he and a group of friends started “KKK” (Kainan sa Kalye Kanluran”), offering a Filipino – Asian Fusion cuisine. The success of KKK inspired Al to pursue his original passion – Thai Food. In 2006, Jatujak was born and the rest, as they say, is a spicy history.
